‘Koklu’ attraction.
What makes this kuih interesting is its unique taste and texture. According to the couple, they came up with the recipe after being inspired by a friend. The flavor is exceptional because they continue to use traditional methods. The technique involves baking with coconut coir, and the two mixtures are cooked in a copper mold.
Zakaria, creator of the recipe:
Previously, he and his wife only made and sold baulu while akok was only sold during the month of fasting.
“We first pour the akok mixture into the mold, followed by the baulu mixture, and bake it with coconut fiber for a few minutes. This creates a rich and delicious flavor from the combination of the two mixes.”
“We sell this koklu at RM2 for three pieces, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Most buyers purchase more than one container, so we stay busy preparing koklu. Additionally, the cooking process takes time due to the use of traditional coconut husk methods.”
In conclusion, the new menu created by this married couple has been very tasty and has given ideas not only to them, but also to other traders to generate income. At the same time, it can gives the opportunity to people from outside Kelantan to experience ‘koklu’ without having to go to that state.
