Nowadays, there are various kuih or snacks that we can get. Nevertheless, lovers of traditional kuih must not forget Cucur kuih. Cucur, also known as cekodok, is a type of fried kuih that is a favorite of many people. This kuih has many variations such as cucur shrimp, cucur anchovy, cucur badak, and others. Interestingly, if you have excess bread, don’t worry, now you can prepare it as a delicious Cucur Roti as a snack for afternoon tea.

Ingredients for ‘Cucur Roti’

  • 5 slices of bread
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • Crabstick or sausage (cut into small pieces)
  • Onions
  • Red chili (diced)
  • Chicken essence powder
  • Salt

Instructions:

  • 1. Shred the bread and soak it in water, then leave it for 5 minutes for the bread to rise perfectly.

  • 2. Add all other ingredients to the mixture and mix well, then leave for 10 minutes.

  • 3. Heat the oil and spoon the mixture into the hot oil. Fry until golden and crispy. Ready to serve!
